FUTURE TRENDS
OPTIMISM & NEW VALUES

Stefan Nilsson forecasts that after the pandemic, we will be talking about anti- consumerism, but also new business opportunities. To repair is the new black and we want to experience things even more. We will continue to build things at home and brew kombucha. Art will become more important.

In the climate sector, we talked a lot about new materials in 2021. In 2022 we need services. Help to sort garbage such as all the packaging we get when ordering online.

Among the aesthetic impressions we can see that one of the new trends is heading for a new sensuality with boys in pearl necklaces, Harry Styles in a dress and how RuPaul invites women to compete among drag queens (not as drag kings).

The sensory is seen in materials we want to touch. Travertine, transparent textiles and scents. And the smiley is back. We want to break free from the proper and dive in royal-core, eat good-looking food and look at lots and lots of flowers. 2023 is the year of “flower therapy” or “florapy”.

In the Stora Trenddagen seminar, Stefan Nilsson presents the following trends:
Bluching Brides,
Repair rituals, Cyber Smoke Rings, Kings & Colours.

TRENDS OVERVIEW

Stefan Nilsson talks about how a new sensuality, anti-consumerism, climate change, heritage will set the agenda for everything, shaping five trends:

/ BLUCHING BRIDES

Sensual, sensory and tactile. Skin colours (of all kinds) and a feminine touch. Boys wearing pearl necklace and girls competing in RuPaul’s Dragrace. Calm and quiet. Summer and sunlight. Scents. Transparency. Lace and buttons. Absolutely an opportunity for sensuality to come back. Brown, natural materials like paper and wood.

/ REPAIR RITUALS

Burgundy, denim, olive and orange. Lots of colours. A protest trend. Turmoil on the streets. Much more energy than last year, even if the red and green tend to be similar.
All colours at the same time - about heritage and also about indigenous people.
Repair and redo. Craft. A new kind of creativity. Everyone is invited.

/ CYBER SMOKE RINGS

Purple and yellow. A very aesthetic trend. Nice colour combinations. Disappearing things and art. Temporary. Tiles and ceramics. Fresh flowers as temporary art. Flower therapy. Geometrical shapes. Colour blocking. Spiritual and witchy.

/ KINGS & COLOURS

Orange, grey and blue. Futuristic. Planet Mars. Works for the public environment – and the set table. Premium and naughty. Basquiat and neo-expressionism. Black details with the colours. Pop-culture and the smiley.
